Cradle Beach, founded in 1888 on the principles of diversity and inclusion, is dedicated to uniting individuals and families with a shared focus on empowering children with special needs and underserved communities. Through life-changing experiences, we help them become their best selves in a safe and welcoming environment. Our programs, including our overnight inclusive summer camps, respite care, and retreats provide transformative opportunities for both children and adults. Situated on 66 acres of serene shoreline along Lake Erie, our campus serves as a peaceful retreat where we bring together individuals of all abilities, from varied backgrounds and circumstances.

Each summer, up to 800 children with and without disabilities and economic challenges come to Cradle Beach, where our inclusive swimming pool is at the heart of camp life. Campers swim 2-3 times per day, learning essential water safety skills through American Red Cross swimming lessons. Our pool is one of the few fully accessible pools in Western New York, and its heated waters offer therapeutic benefits, particularly for children with physical disabilities and stiff muscles. In this way, our pool directly fulfills our mission, offering an inclusive space where children of all abilities can play, learn and grow together.

We are incredibly grateful to the James H. Cummings Foundation for their generosity toward our beloved inclusive swimming pool renovations. This vital resource is more than just a place for fun—it’s where campers develop life-changing and life-saving skills, build confidence and enjoy therapeutic benefits.

With these funds, Cradle Beach can now properly repair our aging pool. Furthermore and monumentally, this funding allows Cradle Beach to purchase and install a customized, winter, pool cover which will eliminate the need for seasonal draining and acid washing of the pool’s surface, extending the longevity and efficiency of the pool for many decades to come!

Thanks to the continued generosity and philanthropic support of The James H. Cummings Foundation, Cradle Beach will continue to be a haven where children of all abilities can thrive, creating memories and friendships that last a lifetime.
